Club Fair is a Success!

davidclubfair.jpg

This past Thursday (September 22, 2005) made Conjuring Club history!  We participated in Park View's annual Club fair for the first time.  We got an amazing response from all of the students who attended.  This was by far Conjuring Club's best performance ever.  We have about 20 prospective members for the 2005-2006 school year.
I will tell you right now that the first few meetings wont be very exciting.  Consider it a test of devotion.  The first way that we will see if you are devoted is if you even show up to the first few meetings, on time.  If you make it to those meetings, we will see if you will make it THROUGH those meetings without persistantly asking "When will we learn how to do the tricks???".  I'm expecting a few people to get bored and stop coming to the meetings.  After probably the 3rd meeting, we will begin asking for dues and we will have you sign the Conjuring Club Membership Agreement.  After which, we will begin the teaching process.
We will teach major presentation technique, some basic sleights, magic terminology, and a little bit of magic history.  We will expose you to a wide range of magic such as Card magic, Coin magic, Impromptu (no set-up) magic, Magic with Everyday Objects (rubberbands, paper clips, paper, sugar packets, dollar bills, keys, food, ect), Spongeball magic, Rope magic, and the list goes on.  You can then decide which field of magic you personally wish to begin with.
Eventually, you will probably have touched on most forms of magic over the course of the year before you find one that you will stick with.
Our official meeting times (which might change due to member preference) are as follows:
Mondays and Friday mornings at 8:00 AM.
I usually arrive at the school by 6:45 AM, so if anyone that needs a ride cannot get one any later than 6:45, you will not be the only one there.  The meetings will be held in Mr. Hill's room (2203).  FYI, Mr. Hill is NOT our sponsor.  Mr. Wright is.  Since Mr. Wright does not have a permanent room, it has been approved by Mr. Hill that we may use his room.

Well, that's about it for the first newsletter.  I hope to see you all soon!
